2020: I am grateful to still be alive...
From the start of the pandemic to its still-unfinished present, 2020 felt like a cycle of life and death. Everyone’s experiences and understanding differ, and so do the results. In February I left home for the city where I work, then stayed confined at home for three months. Every day was anxious, as if I might die at any time. Everything I pursued, loved, and cared for seemed to disappear. Once the pandemic eased a little, I went home more often. What matters more than parents? Economics says, “Allocation determines returns.” Today’s allocation shapes tomorrow’s results. There is only so much time, and it always slips away. What matters is what we use it for.
I was a little lazy about exercise this year and did not reach my target weight of 65 KG. Learn to love yourself and life, and make yourself happy. A healthy life matters more than anything.
Work:
- WORK:
- From entrepreneurship to failure, from backend to frontend, my inner journey keeps changing. I gradually understand that business models and markets matter just as much. Technology is only a solution; profit still needs a good business model.
- Because I now work full-time on frontend, I bought many books on CSS, JS, HTTP, and other frontend technologies, hoping to strengthen my foundations in 2021.
Reading:
- READ:
- I read many economics books and started learning finance from scratch. I discovered that many things in life involve economic principles that I had not noticed before. Understanding these principles helps me understand business models, good businesses, and corporate moats.
Life:
- LIFE:
- Bought an iPad Pro for finance and reading notes.
- Bought an Apple Watch 5, so I no longer need to carry a heavy phone while running. My 2021 target is 500 kilometers.
Social Life:
- CHAT:
- Without noticing, I have known friends from crypto trading for four years, yet we are still inexperienced retail traders. Perhaps delayed gratification does not suit everyone.
2021:
- FATURE:
- Learn the foundations of modern frontend technology and algorithms well.
- Take IELTS in the second half of the year.
- Write an open-source podcast system and DAPP.
--- For society to move forward, each of us must shoulder responsibilities and keep going under the weight. If the sky is dark, live in the darkness. If speaking is dangerous, remain silent. If you feel unable to shine, curl up in a corner. But never take pride in polished compromises, and never mock those who are braver and more passionate than you, pushing society forward. ---
